Change for Hope has been diligently working with the people of Nepal since 2005.  The earthquakes of April 2015 brought another dimension to the aide work being done and the relationships we have established in these last 11 years. The first round of supplies went out within one week of the earthquakes and then when I returned for the two months of Dec 26th,2015 to  Feb 26,2016.

Our work from April 2015 to February of 2016 included the following but is not limited to this list.  CFH provided all transportation to the team members and meals while away.

 

The villages of Babare, Makwanput, Nagorkot, Hetunda, Kutal – homes and schools were destroyed- CFH did the following:

Delivery of

  • 33,990 pounds of rice
  • 803 pounds of lentils
  • 803 pounds of salt
  • 803 pounds of  sugar
  • 325 liters oil to cook with
  • 130 backpacks to elementary school children
  • 300 wool blankets

 

Shree Mahdevshwori School in Barbare ( public school)

  • 20 plastic chairs- for teachers and adults
  • 7 white board for teachers
  • Carpet and padding for two classrooms for pre-schoolers
  • 5  round tables for teaching ( large 48” across)
  • 45 childrens chairs
  • 130 Backpacks for school children in Dolakha elementary school ( children lost everything during earthquake)

We are in the process of the rebuilding of one of the buildings – CFH is in the process with another small NGO from Austrailia called “From the Ground Up’ who make very earthquake resistant buildings with native materials using CFH funds and their expertise

 

Village of Kutal- Medicine sent with pharmacist after quake to attend the injured ( all homes and church was lost)

  • Metal roofing for 23 families in cooperation with Sher lama of Mercy children Home
  • 175 bags if rice ( additional to the above mentioned)
  • 18 large goats (5 Widows received 3 goats each for a breeding program (already babies are born)
  • 1 Water buffalo for a widow- new calf in march 2016
  • 3 goats FOR the teacher who coordinated the goat project
  • Wood to rebuild the sides of the public elementary school
  • Roofing for church building

In cooperation with Black Spring Baptist church monies to help rebuild one of the oldest churches in Nepal whose minister is 82 years old

 

Orchid Garden Nepal School– over 200 poor children- Kalopur-Kathmandu

Mercy Childrens Homes  Pokhara – under government pressure to supply the following which CFH provided

  • Wood Benches and tables with laminated tops for Study Hall- up to 15 children
  • Ceiling wood installed, caulked and painted in Girls dorm rooms ( 2 rooms 18×15)
  • Kitchen storage room ( brick with tin roof, wood windows and shelves)  
  • Laminated floors (wood look) on entire first floor
  • School shoes, socks and play shoes-
  • Uniforms for all children (pants, skirts,shirt)
  • Bedding re-stuffed
  • Mattress covers
  • Momo dinner night 400 made with Buff and vegetables

 

Other

  • Womens ministry on Kindness- 5 days
  • Pramod Tamag- set up first Pharmacy ( CFH Graduate 2015 from college)
    •    Inclusive of medicine, building build out, equipment, lab equipment
    •     Additional classes for IV training
  • Chicken Ranch- 200 plus chickens – including hutch, food, vitamins and vaccines
  • One year land rent for chicken ranch
  • 7 electric induction stoves and supplies (special pots and rice cookers) due fuel shortage imposed by    Indian government for six months
  • 300 Wool blankets delivered to various villages
  • Irrigation system for wheat fields for entire village of Sikrt- Nuwakot
  • Pokrell Smaja Church in Terai- Finished inside cement flooring, stucco inside and out, and paint
  • 6 month sewing training class and material for one woman
  • Hospital bills for a woman whose back was crushed- two months in hospital
  • Elementary students – Tuition and fees paid for 4
  • Nursing Student Tansen Nepal- final college year tuition, fees and living expenses
  • Sociology Student- Final college tuition
  • Lab Technician student- college fees, lab fees and transportation
  • Church land in Babare final payment
  • Solar lighting two establishments, inclusive of batteries and inverters
