The air hangs thick with moisture as I hide behind Sandip  while riding on the back of the motorcycle to get to an English speaking church in Lazimpat.  No amount of layers of clothing can keep the air from penetrating…but the windbreaker was a great joy to have on. My grey hat is pulled tightly over my head (toppee) while the back of it  hangs down and covers my neck..I look much like a Ninja turtle with the green windbreaker over my backpack and with glasses on….hehehe. Church was good to meet other people working to meet the needs of Nepali people.  Small and intimate with Nepali and other nationals from the US, NZ, Pakistan, and India.  We sang out of sync but to the glory of God…such a sweet sound off key but all loving voices for Him. Loving deeply, small but involved in prison ministry, street children ministry and women trafficking ministry.  Powerful in their love.

1 Corinthians 1:27, “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty”

Everywhere black and brown dogs are lying in fields curled up like little balls waiting for what is inevitable, rain. People scurry to get everyday shopping done. In anticipation of the rain the streets are already less crowded as the wind chill factor is setting in.  The air will be clean tomorrow.  Once the rain has stopped it is certain the mountains will show their majesty if only for a moment until the smog sets in again.

Today is Sunday and no one wants to get out of bed.  The rain started around 2am.  Ping ping ping on  tin roofs meets my ears as the rain pelts the neighbor’s roof.  I push my earplugs deeper into my ears but to no avail. Cold darkness surrounds me as I snuggle deep into the Ikea down comforter I brought  and left here last spring. I am grateful.  We all stayed in bed until 8am…then we all gathered in the living area and sit like little icebergs waiting to be melted by the small propane gas heater!!! Ahh warmth as the blankets are pulled tighter and tighter around our shoulders and our socks are melting as they are too close!  Contentment is found in such small things here.   Meetings were canceled for the day…reminds me of how no one seems to know how to drive in the rain in Arizona.  So this will be a slow day and I will attend perhaps a board meeting of another NGO in Nepal.  Via taxi of course.

Water TankWednesday I head out for Dolakha to check on the school project.  Orchid Garden’s water tank and washing station should be done by the time I get back.  An estimate is coming for the flooring at Mercy Children’s home in Pokhara ..and work will begin.  I am networking and connecting people here with these projects  in hopes people here will also be involved. Communication is swift and complete in the US to get things done….so very slow here. Sink Project

Patience is something to learn and my own need to depend on His timing and not my own. Communication is lax here…frustrating at times but oh so powerful to the soul to understand different  cultures .  I learn so much each time I come.  I teach the value of complete communication, dates, times, cost and expectations…much to the smiles of my friends here..but they are learning.

More to come after Dolakha.
In His name
