Needless to say….all these things take an enormous amount of time and expense for transportation for the shopping. The fuel shortage and the lack of electricity made these tasks much more difficult, but interesting…. Taxis raised their rates to off set the high price of fuel that they bought on the black market. With no Walmarts to buy one item shopping takes so much time! And for those of you that know me…well I hate to shop, but for these children it was with great joy even in the many storms.
I hope this brings you great joy to know you have helped to change the lives of over 48 children and over 70 people that includes staff members. I had one of the baby goats sold ( this was a project we started in 2008). 500 Rupees went to the older lady that takes care of the goats and the rest of the funds were set up to give a breakfast to three older children who go to school 6:30am in the morning. Breakfast for the other students is at 8:30 and this has created an issue for the three children as their school break is not until 9:30 at which time they returned to the orphanage to eat and then walk the two miles back to school. Problem is now solved as they get tea and biscuits or fruit each morning.
